3 Things You Must Do Before You Submit To Article Directories

To all writers and non-writers out there, now is the time to start digging up those creative writing skills back.

With modern communication technology comes the popularity of information-based marketing, which is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers. This is why article writing, submissions and publications are also getting popular.

There are already many tools that people can use to make the process of distributing their articles more easily. Though this is invaluable in getting the contents more exposure, which is only half of the story.

Let us take a look first at the common mistakes that some people make before submitting their contents to article directories:

  1. Confusing the reason to promote the articles with the reason to write them.

    In article writing, there are three key benefits why you are promoting them; branding, lead generation and promotion, which are all part of your optimization efforts. But there is only one reason why you write an article, and that is to inform your audience. If the article is not focused on this primary and most important purpose, it will fail to achieve the three promotion benefits because no one will be interested in reading them.You need to figure out first how to get people to read what is in your article, then make them click on your resource box. You can achieve this by producing better contents.

  2. Failing to maximize the promotional opportunities of article marketing.

    You may know already that your articles can help you generate additional links back to your site. But do you know that you can get more visitors and better search engine results from that same articles?

    Mention keywords at strategic places. Just be sure not to overdo them. Some are even using anchor texts which is also an effective method. But it is important to know that majority of the directories are not able to support this. Remember that is not only about the links back to your site. Part of doing well in your article marketing is getting picked up by publishers with a large number of audiences and gaining the ability of leveraging other brands because of the quality of your work. Better search engine results also are great benefits.

    But these things do not put much money in your pocket. There are other factors that can turn your article marketing efforts into an opportunity that can boost your earnings. Not just increase the number of visitors to your site.

    Start out with a plan and see to it that your article will serve the function that you intended it to have.

  3. Publishing content that does not help your readers.

    Maybe in the process of writing articles, you are thinking that all that is you wanted is links back to your site. And any visitors it can generate are fine.

    Guess what? Not all article banks and directories are going to accept your content automatically. Oftentimes, they have some guidelines and specifications on the articles that they are accepting.

    You can double the number of sites you can submit to by writing articles that the directories want to share with other people. All it takes is one publisher with a hundred thousand readers to increase your potential audience overnight.

    Write the articles that publishers want in their publications if you want your article marketing to work the most effective way for you. This also means you have to obey the standard guidelines, spell checks, researching on a good topic and even hiring a writer to produce a good content on your behalf.

    In the end, it is all really a matter of choice on your part. You can start getting a little exposure from increased links back but on a very basic level. Or enjoy massive exposure from a little extra time making quality contents.

    It will be your choice. You may not be aware of the fact that an article submitted on directories is not meant to have the same level of exposure as highly-targeted content ones geared on a narrow group of people.

    Learn the difference between these two and it will surely help you know what kinds of articles to write and to submit.

So, you have lead generation program in place, a person has looked at your website and wants more information and you have had an initial conversation where you provided more information. If they have any questions at this point that you don’t have the answer for its time to call in your support team.

If you haven’t already done so make sure you can place 3 way calls on your telephone, just check with your local provider as to how you do this. You will also want to ensure you get cheap international calls. For UK members I recommend http://www.18185.co.uk

Depending on what time of day (and what time zone!) will determine whom you need to contact. I always suggest you send an email in advance to just give us a heads up that you will be making calls on this day and you may need us for a 3 way.

It’s then simply a case of saying to your prospect that you take their questions very seriously and want to get an expert to answer them. Invite me onto the 3-way call and introduce me (I will provide you with some wording to help with this), and then…Keep Quiet!! Yes, that’s right you can take a deep breath and relax and I will take over the call from then and help sign your prospect up. That’s it, pretty simple right!

So now you have put your lead generation in place and that's now on autopilot so what happens next? Well you are going to start to get some leads.

Lets start with Leads with phone numbers and let’s talk about the most common problem here.....FEAR. All of us, at some point (and this includes me!) have associated a common fear about calling our leads. Despite all the effort we have put into introducing someone to our opportunity there is sometimes a reluctance to call people. I was talking to one of my favourite team members last night about this very subject. Gary (aka Sponge Bob Gary - I do love that!) used to work in the Insurance industry and was a top salesman who had a lead to sales conversion rate of 85% and this was cold calling, a true sales superstar! Yet, when it came to calling his first lead he managed to find a million ways to put off that call. Does this ring true with you?

Well after about a week Gary gave himself a kick up the backside and realised that he wasn’t going to grow his business by not speaking to anyone and picked up the dreaded phone. He dialled the number, the phone started to ring.....tension mounted.......then a very nice lady answered and was delighted to hear from Gary as she had just been looking at his website. I have found with near all my calls that I always end up having a great conversation with someone new. Even when people have said they are not interested it’s always been a pleasant experience so don’t put it off!

When you do call someone simply introduce yourself;

'Hi this is John from Success University, you recently requested some information from me online and I just wanted to give you a quick call to see if you had received it.'

If they don’t recall what you sent them confirm their email address and arrange to send the information again. Tip - agree what you will put in the subject line so it stands out for them and doesn’t get lost with all their other emails. I have a standard email I use for this and if you would like a copy just drop me a line and let me know.

Now, a couple of important points to note. We are NOT salespeople so please do not try to persuade people to join, instead be an information provider. Point your prospects to the different ways they can learn more about us. Let these be your salesman and you just concentrate on having a nice chat and building rapport.

Let’s look at a study conducted with the Yale Graduating Class of 1953.

They surveyed all students asking them if they had written goals for their life:

· 3% had put their goals in writing

· 97% had not written them down or had none at all!

Twenty years later, these same people were re-interviewed.

· The 3% who had written goals had 10 times the incomes than the other 97% combined!

Do you know what you want to achieve this month? If you do, are they written down? Use the Goals sheet in your back office for this.

I would always suggest that one of your goals is to qualify for the next rank in the compensation plan. So if you’re a student your goal for this month should be to become a counsellor. If you’re a counsellor you should be aiming to be a Director ($1000 bonus this month if you achieve that!).

Once you have your goals written down make sure they are somewhere where you can see them every day so you stay completely focussed on achieving them. My goals when I started SU were as follows:

  1. To qualify as counsellor within a month
  2. To be a record breaking recruiter (hey have a little fun with them!!)

  5. To speak on stage at the 2nd Anniversary in January.
  6. To spend quality time with my 6 year old daughter Jade.

Well I am pleased to say I have achieved 1, 2, 3 and 6 and I am working very hard to achieve the other 2 although number 5 scares the living daylights out of me!!

December Bonuses – Who needs some help?

Seminars are Great!

It seems that this weekend was a busy one for Seminar’s! If you listened to Chris & Julie’s training call yesterday you would have heard how she was rubbing shoulders with the likes of Tony Robbins and the like. Now that’s a great way to spend your Saturday. You will have also heard that they also signed up 3 new people into their team from that very seminar….now that’s what I call networking.

I was also at a seminar on Saturday and although I haven’t signed anyone up directly into SU yet it was an amazing day. I have a wealth of new contacts who I will stay in touch with, I have set up an amazing joint venture deal with some great Internet Marketer’s which promises to not only generate a new income stream but will also help to grow my SU business. I learnt some amazing new ways to market the business online and once I have tested these I will share my results with all of you.

So are there any seminars that you can attend? Simply go along, have fun and take a stack of business cards. Then find out as much as you can from the people there and swap cards. Follow up with an email (put something memorable in the subject line to make sure it stands out!) and invite them to look at your website. Business on autopilot

Hi everyone

The thing I love about this business is that when you have your lead generation in place it works on autopilot. I was at a conference all day yesterday (very long day but well worth it!) so it meant I was not able to do any work online. So after a well deserved lie in this morning I have opened up my emails to see new members have joined while I have been away and I have a ton of new prospects who have visited my website. I really do love this business!

This business really inspires me!

It's true, this business really does inspire me everyday. I was re-reading Daegan Smith's Internet Marketing guide again and I found a whole wealth of ideas I missed the first few times I read it. One of the things that Daegan does is to send a daily broadcast to his team which I think is a great idea. So starting this Sunday I will send out a daily broadcast to our team going down 6 levels.

I thought I would start today by just introducing myself to those team members I haven't had the pleasure of talking to yet. My name is John O'Driscoll and for the past 15 years I have worked as a Senior Manager for an International Examinations Board but decided this year I needed a change. Why change, you may ask? Well although I was in a well paid job I had come to realise over the years that I was really no better off than when I first started in my career. In fact the more successful I became the more my whole life was reliant on that JOB! As my earnings increased, so did my financial commitments! For the past 5 years one of my roles was to identify ways to reduce costs and make recommendations to the board. In reality, what this meant was I was effectively downsizing or restructuring large parts of the organisation and making people redundant. Not a very inspiring role I can tell you. It also made me realise that one day my role may become surplus to requirements.

So I made a life changing decision that I would not spend any more of my energy in this role and started to look for a viable alternative. I have had many years experience in Network Marketing and knew this was an area that if I found the right opportunity, with the right support team, a great product and a fantastic compensation plan then I could make it work. That's when I found Success University. It ticked all my boxes.

I will go into more detail about what I did to get started in the follow up emails but here's a quick snapshot. I was about to go on a 2 week holiday to Spain when I joined SU and with the support of Karen Leslie (my sponsor) and Julie Chojnowski (Karen's sponsor) I got my business set up and my marketing plan in place before I went away! Now as you get to know me you will realise that Internet Marketing was all brand new to me so I just did as I was told! Needless to say I had a fantastic holiday and every morning before breakfast I checked my emails and was amazed at how many people were looking at my site while I slept! I signed my first person up by the end of the first week of my holiday and in the second week I had signed my first premium member and don't forget I didn't really know what I was doing.

Since then things haven't stopped. In my first full month I qualified as counsellor and in my second month I had become Success University's Top 10 Recruiter! I was also invited to join the UK Leadership team and I am an active member now helping to build strong foundations for the UK and Europe.

I will send another broadcast again on Sunday (I am in London all day tomorrow at a Seminar with one of the top Internet Marketers in the world so I will be passing on any tips I get!).
